Rainichi. It means “Coming to Japan.”

That is what I have just done.

I’m here, once again, in the fabulous city of Kyoto.

I had quite a list of things I wanted to accomplish during the two months I spent in LA between the conclusion of my Israel/Egypt/Jordan trip and the commencement of this next chapter in Asia. The list included work projects, website code revisions, fitness goals, financial goals, and as usual, blogging on the previous trip before starting the next.

I didn’t quite make all of them. But I’m only about 2 articles away from finishing the Israel trip…and my benchpress max made it up to 245lbs, JUST short of my target 250 ๐Ÿ˜‰

That’s okay. Once things calm down and I get a bit more settled I intend to rectify both of these. But not quite yet.

Here’s the plan for the immediate future (already underway):
August 6th: Two days in Tokyo, staying with a friend I used to work with in Kyoto.
August 8th: One weekend in Kansai, hitting up SUMA BEACH and dropping by to surprise the hell out of whichever of my friends can’t read English and thus haven’t read this blog and have no idea I’m coming back ๐Ÿ˜‰
August 12th: Peder and his friend Stian from Norway meet me in Kyoto, we board a bus to Tokushima and attend my all-time favorite matsuri: the Awa Odori Matsuri.
August 15th: Back to Kyoto, Peder and I move into our apartments that are furnished, ready, and waiting.
August 16th: Daimonji Fire Festival in Kyoto.
August 17th: Two solid months of coding on weekdays, partying on weekends.

I love being a Traveling Programmer ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Miki! What’s up dude! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Furnished apartment ready and waiting? I’d love to hear more about that. I’m here with a visa and an employer and I’m having a world of trouble getting an apartment.

I am left with a few questions and a lot of jealousy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Miki: Wow, that IS awesome! They’ve even got photos like that right in front of my house in LA!

S$: I’ll email ya ๐Ÿ™‚ Why the jealousy tho – you’re here, no??
