Phew! As of this moment, I’m officially caught up on blogs.
I’ve spent most of the first two days in Budapest writing and looking longingly outside at the intermittently blue skies, wondering what kind of adventures await; although the forecast predicted showers the entire week, the weather has actually been alternating between “perfect” and “pouring.” And for as hard as those “perfect” moments are to resist, even when it’s pouring the air temperature has been fine, letting me keep the huge window to my room open for a nice breeze (one thing I forgot to mention about my room is that an entire wall is a window, so the amount of natural light is wonderful).
Anyway, it feels great to be caught up…and just in time for my first Eastern European weekend. I’m writing this at 6:15pm on Friday May 14th*, and the concert across the street starts at 8. I can already hear music blaring from the stereos of at least two different rooms in the building, and I’m sure that across the hall the student pub is filling up. Last time I went in there to reset the internet, somewhere around this time on Thursday, I was shocked that every single table, stool, foosball table, and dart board was occupied.
Time for a shower. Hopefully I’ll have some fun stories for you tomorrow 🙂
Note: The last 10 posts or so were all prewritten and future dated, to avoid a deluge of material followed by a long period of nothing. Although I’m sure you know this by know, I’m currently way ahead of these actual writings 🙂
