New Photos and Nerdy Links
November 19, 2007 in Japan
It’s been brought to my attention that I was a bit unclear about how I’d posted additional Halloween photos in a new album section of this site. So here it is again: Go here. If you’re a logged-in user, there will be an ALBUM ACCESS link above the main image. If not, and you’d like access, and I know you, mail me
I also just added a second album here with photos from Friday and Wednesday nights in Kyoto.
If you’re into games, you might find this article pretty amusing: A pink Chinese knockoff of the Nintendo Wii: the all-new Vii!
And for the exceptionally nerdy: A video of twin solid-state Tesla coils playing the Mario Bros theme song! “The music that you hear is coming from the sparks that these two identical high power solid state Tesla coils are generating. There are no speakers involved. The Tesla coils stand 7 feet tall and are each capable of putting out over 12 foot of spark. They are spaced about 18 feet apart. The coils are controlled over a fiber optic link by a single laptop computer. Each coil is assigned to a midi channel which it responds to by playing notes that are programed into the computer software. What is not obvious is how loud the coils are. They are well over 110dB.”
Speaking of nerdy, this is just about the funniest music video I’ve ever seen
