Width-Fixin’

June 14, 2007 in Japan

Fixed-width blogs seem to be all the craze lately, and never being one to miss out on the latest fad I simply had to jump on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, my efforts to cram everything down into a 800×600 layout proved fruitless, mainly due to sections like Photo of the Day and TravelLog. So I decided to go with 1024×768 instead. Hopefully this doesn’t cause problems for any ultra-low-res crazies out there ;)

I’ll probably continue to tweak things around for the next few days, but in the long run this new layout should reduce the chances of bugs arising from things like overflow, as well as allow me to more deliberately arrange my post content.

Let me know how it works out!

It looks much worse at 1920×1200 BTW

Ah yeah I’d imagine…although I THINK the vast majority of readers would be using significantly lower resolutions, in which case a fixed layout has its benefits. Although I do think the background looks a bit stupid now that so much of it is visible :P
