Well, the day has finally come. After pushing back our meeting for well over a month, I’m at last leaving Europe and flying across the world to connect with Peder in Vietnam – resuming a trip that I put on hold almost five months ago.

And as it happens, the flight to Hanoi officially marks the first time I’ve ever fully circumnavigated the globe. Vietnam -> USA -> Ukraine -> Serbia -> Bulgaria -> Vietnam. Around the world in 154 days. Cool 🙂

(Side note: my flight to Hanoi was on Aeroflot, via Moscow. Although I’ve heard nothing but horror stories about the Russian national airline – rude staff, long delays, disgusting food, etc – honestly I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It may not be JAL or Cathay Pacific, but seemed at least as good as any American airline to me!

…Or maybe I was just in a good mood because I had a whole row to myself :P)

  1. Seems you’ve had your share of luck with flights lately 😉

Aeroflot really isn’t that bad. It *was* bad, but they have raised their standards. I’ve flown with them numerous times and have nothing bad to say after 2006…

    • That’s good to know 🙂 I have read tons of horrendous reviews online (in addition to your own testimonials)…but I didn’t take note of how recently they were written…

  2. having a whole row to yourself greatly increases the enjoyability of any flight 🙂

On my last 4 flights (Beijing -> Seoul -> Honolulu and back), I had my own row the whole time and it made the experience soooo much better 🙂

    • Having a full row is almost as “better” as sitting next to a snoring fat guy or crying baby is “worse” 😉
